7/3/06 02:16 am - cat care
i have a cat, as some of you know and some probably do not. this is a lot of information i'm about to give you, but if anyone knows anything about cat care it might all be pertinent. if anyone could help me out in some way i'd be very grateful.
my pudding was rescued by my roommate's friend from a meth house when she was 7 weeks old. apparently a fucking disgustingly dirty place with needles everywhere. point is: she's fucking crazy. we thought it was hormones, since somewhat consistently she'd go from being the sweetest kitten in the world for a few weeks to rampaging our apartment, meowing crazily all night long, etc etc etc. we got her spayed which seemed to work for a little while. then we moved to a house where she could go outside thinking she'd be so much happier here. well she loves the outdoors, is fascinated by trees and grass and has even stayed outside overnight once.
tonight, though, there were problems. i put her outside because she was running around here all day being in a mood where she was chill and meowed for attention but if you cuddled with her she'd grab you and bite you and hold on and it hurt. she was okay outside for a little while, but then she met the cat from next door. perhaps it is the fact that they look exactly alike, but they hate each other. they growled painfully, shrill and loud and i yelled outside for my puddingcat to come inside (she is the much smaller of the two and younger and therefore, i assume, less experienced at dealing with other cats). the other cat ran away and i eventually found my kitty, screaming her little head off, stuck up in a tree. i brought her down and took her inside and she won't stop growling at me when i get near her. she's not hurt, just very shaken and seems mad that we brought her to a house and let her out into what was already considered the territory of this other cat.
i know with dogs, introducing them in front of owners is usually the safest way to make them get along. but somehow, cats seem more agressive and less agreeable to such things. any ideas on how to be able to let my cat outside? or is it a lost cause and she's got to be an indoor cat?
thanks cat lovers, if you're out there.
peace.
